County Air Quality Task Force Bike Contest Winners Announced...
(September 22, 2010) – Two of the newest members of Allen County's Clean Air Force campaign will be able to do their part to help reduce ozone in the county thanks to a contest sponsored by the County's Air Quality Task Force. County Commissioner Linda Bloom and members of the Task Force today presented $500 gift certificates from Summit City Bicycle and Fitness to Chad Heilman and Jon Yankowiak. The Air Quality Task Force encouraged Allen County residents to become members of the Clean Air Force throughout the 2010 ozone season. Members of the Clean Air Force agreed to follow action steps to reduce ozone in Allen County. All new members were entered to win one of the prizes. The intent of the contest was to provide an incentive to Allen County residents to ride their bicycles whenever possible to reduce vehicle trips. Cycling to work, events, errands and recreational riding provides an air quality benefit to the community by eliminating vehicles from the roadway.
